Brighton vs Nottingham Forest
Brighton are no doubt promotion contenders this season after falling short in the play-offs last season. They battled for a hard-fought point at Derby last weekend. Whereas, Forest introduced Burton to the Championship with a 4-3 win over the newly promoted side. However, with Brighton at home and Forest conceding three goals I can see Brighton winning this.
Prediction: Brighton 2-0 Notts Forest

Aston Villa vs Rotherham
Rotherham will look to survive another season in the Championship and started well with a point against Wolves, but they did let slip a 2-0 lead. I think Villa have a real chance of promotion now since Ross McCormack has signed. He will get 20 goals+ for them in the season and could produce a deadly partnership alongside Rudy Gestede.
Prediction: Aston Villa 1-0 Rotherham
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Barnsley vs Derby
I think Barnsley could be dark horses this season and the extra £7.5 million from the John Stones transfer to Manchester City earlier this week will help bolster their squad. Although losing their opener 4-2 against Ipswich, they face a bigger task in Derby who earned a good point against Brighton.
Prediction: Barnsley 1-3 Derby
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Brentford vs Ipswich
Ipswich looked good on their opening game winning 4-2 thanks to new signing Grant Ward scoring a second half hat-trick. Brentford made costly mistakes which led to them losing 2-1 last weekend. They need to cut out those mistakes to think about getting a point against a strong Ipswich side.
Prediction: Brentford 0-2 Ipswich
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Burton Albion vs Bristol City
Bristol City staged a great second half fight-back against Wigan last weekend scoring twice in the last ten minutes to take all three points. This Burton team scored 3 against Notts Forest last weekend so are already showing that they are capable of scoring at the Championship level. This game could be full of goals where either team could take three points.
Prediction: Burton Albion 1-3 Bristol City
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Leeds vs Birmingham
Leeds lost heavily last weekend and will hope to put that result behind them as quickly as possible, although they have good quality in the team I feel as though new manager Garry Monk doesn’t exactly know his starting eleven which is not a good sign two games into the new season. Birmingham didn’t shine, but grabbed a point in a dull draw at Cardiff. Both teams will look to improve from last weekend.
Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Birmingham
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Newcastle vs Huddersfield
I think everybody expects Newcastle to go straight back up to the Premier League, but a shock 1-0 defeat to Fulham left concerns after a disappointing performance. Huddersfield are fresh faced with a great addition of players to their squad as David Wagner is set for his first full season as the Terriers boss and started well with a 2-1 win over Brentford last weekend. Newcastle will have home advantage in what will be almost a sell-out at St James’ Park.
Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Huddersfield
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Preston vs Fulham
I thought Preston had a very good season finishing in the top half of the table last season, but started slowly with a 1-0 loss at Reading. They will look to bounce back against a Fulham team who will be full of confidence after surprisingly beating Newcastle 1-0.
Prediction: Preston 1-1 Fulham
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Wigan vs Blackburn
Both these teams lost on the opening day, so they will look to hit back stronger in this game. Especially Blackburn after a humiliating 1-4 defeat to promotion contenders Norwich. Wigan were unlucky to concede twice in the final ten minutes to lose 2-1, but I think Wigan can overcome this Blackburn team.
Prediction: Wigan 1-0 Blackburn
Saturday 13th August 3pm
Wolves vs Reading
Both teams under new management for the new season and both managers will be relatively pleased with their start to the new season. Even though Wolves had to come from 2 goals down to grab a point there was signs of encouragement. Meanwhile, Reading will look for another win under new boss Jaap Stam and this game could go either way.
Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Reading
Saturday 13th August 5:30pm
Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday
Norwich were fantastic in their 4-1 demolition of Blackburn last Saturday, but face much tougher opponents against SheffieldWednesday. Wednesday scraped past Aston Villa last weekend after some sloppy play gifted Wednesday the win. Both teams will look for victory to have an edge over each other early in the season as they are both in contention for promotion to the Premier League.
Prediction: Norwich 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Sunday 14th August 3pm
Cardiff vs QPR
QPR looked fantastic in their opener against Leeds last weekend, comprehensively winning 3-0. Whilst Cardiff offered very little in a bore draw against Birmingham. QPR will be more confident going into the game and I think will walk away with the 3 pointson Sunday.
Prediction: Cardiff 0-1 QPR
