Will Sunderland stay up?

jermain-defoe-sunderland_3453267What a week for the Sunderland faithful a draw at home to Tottenham Hotspur was the building block to go before Saturdays superb away day in London.

This is usually the time of the year that the Black Cats start to pick up results on their way to yet another great escape.

Saturday as a Sunderland fan was special to say the least 4-0 up at the break I just couldn’t believe it but credit to the team what a performance the best I’ve watched in a long time.

So my question is can the Wearsiders stay up?

I honestly think they can with the resources available Jermain Defoe one of the most clinical strikers not only in the Premier League but in the whole of England overall a superb striker.

Sunderland always have their mini revival about this time of year and with it being so tight at the bottom this season can dream of doing it once again.

This weeks match at home to Southampton is crucial to the clubs hopes of survival as every home game from now on becomes a cup final as does every home match between now and the end of the season however David Moyes’s side have a good record at home against the Saints.

Two clean sheets in the last two games will also spur the side on but with Jordan Pickford back in full training it will be interesting to see if he is back in the starting eleven for Saturdays match.

As a Sunderland supporter I am feeling confident due to the visitors recent run of poor form despite reaching the EFL cup final.

The fans as always will get behind the team and create a great atmosphere in the Stadium of Light as once again another exciting Premier League relegation battle unfolds before us.
